The Blue Band is a select ensemble with talented musicians and band front performers. All prospective members, new and returning, must audition annually for membership. Submit this form to let us know that you want to be considered for 2024 Penn State Blue Band!

Instrumentalists

The 2024 Penn State Blue Band First Round instrumental music auditions will be completed by video submission and successful candidates will be invited to attend Blue Band Camp in August 2024, to complete the marching portion of the audition process. Please read the following information carefully before submitting an Intent to Audition form. You will receive an email confirmation that outlines details of the audition process.

Eligibility/Audition Information
Blue Band is open to all students who are accepted to, or currently located at, the University Park campus. Through competitive auditions, the Blue Band is comprised of talented musicians and band front performers from all colleges across the University Park campus. All members, new and returning, must audition annually and 290–320 students are selected for membership.

  • Please note: Blue Band Special Admit Program: Any student (instrumentalists only) assigned to a Penn State campus location other than University Park may be transferred to University Park pending a successful music audition and approval from their college. Contact the Blue Band office for more information 814-865-3982 or blueband@psu.edu.

All prospective candidates are expected to provide accurate information and are responsible for updating the Blue Band office via email at blueband@psu.edu with any change in academic or campus status. Providing inaccurate or misleading information, at any stage of the audition process, could result in disqualification of the student’s participation in auditions and/or void the students audition results.

Majorettes

The 2024 Penn State Blue Band Majorette/Touch of Blue auditions will be held virtually through video submission. Please read the following information carefully before submitting an Intent to Audition form.

The Penn State Blue Band Majorettes/Touch of Blue team is determined annually through a competitive audition. We look for talented performers who can learn routines quickly with uniformity. Showcasing strong abilities in twirling, marching, and body control while demonstrating the Blue Band Majorette/Touch of Blue style. The number of twirlers accepted can vary from year to year.

Please complete and submit the Intent to Audition form on this page. Once your form is submitted, you will receive a confirmation response and further information for the audition process.

NOTE: All applicants must be accepted to Penn State University Park campus to be considered for the Touch of Blue.

Silks

The 2024 Penn State Blue Band Silk auditions will be held virtually through video submission. Please read the following information carefully before submitting an Intent to Audition form.

The Penn State Blue Band Silk team is determined annually through a competitive audition. We look for talented performers who can learn routines quickly with uniformity. Showcasing strong abilities in equipment technique, marching, and body control, while demonstrating the Blue Band style.

Please complete the Intent to Audition form on this page. Once your form is submitted you will receive a confirmation response and further information for the audition process.

NOTE: All applicants must be accepted to Penn State University Park campus to be considered for the Blue Band Silk team.
